Dr. Stinchfield is your local CEREC dentist for single-visit tooth restorations.
What is CEREC?
CEREC is a technology for restoring damaged teeth, and this restoration can be completed in a single visit to the doctor's office. It makes your teeth stronger and more beautiful — all while keeping your teeth looking natural. The restoration is metal-free and the high-grade ceramic material is compatible with the natural tissue found in your mouth.
The CEREC Process
During the procedure, the doctor will apply a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a special LED camera to take a photo of your tooth. This step of preparing the tooth and imaging takes approximately 40 minutes. After this point you are free to relax, read, nap, enjoy the beautiful view or get up and stretch or used the restroom. Using Computer Aided Design, the photo serves as a "map" to design your tooth's restoration. Then, CEREC will use two uniquely shaped diamond burs to create (mill) your restoration (crown, veneer, or onlay) out of ceramic. The restoration is then characterized and glazed in a firing oven. This step creates a beautiful, life-like feel and look to the ceramic. Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry, which comprises the last 5-10 minutes of the appointment. You walk out with the FINAL restoration ready to use, in a SINGLE VISIT with NO TEMPORARY!
